Backend / Cloud Developer – JavaScript & TypeScript (SAP BTP Platform) (m/f/d)

Role description:

As part of our commitment to driving innovation and digital transformation, we are seeking a skilled and motivated backend/cloud developer to join our team. In this role, you will design and build modern services and APIs on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), working alongside our SAP specialists, and grow over time into owning extensions and integrations across our S/4HANA landscape in line with Clean Core principles.

Modern Backend & API Development: Design, build, and maintain services and RESTful APIs using JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js, deployed on SAP BTP's cloud-native runtime.
Structured Growth into SAP: Learn SAP CAP and RAP to develop and extend business services, paired from day one with an experienced SAP colleague. You'll take on CDS Views, OData services, and Cloud Integration (CPI) topics progressively, with a defined ramp-up plan rather than being expected to arrive at SAP-fluent.
Clean Core & Extension Strategy: Apply Clean Core principles to keep S/4HANA extensions sustainable and upgrade safe. Maintain high standards of code quality, testing, and documentation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with our ABAP/S/4HANA developers, business units, and IT teams to analyze requirements and deliver robust technical solutions.

Your profile:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or related fields.

Must-have:

Strong experience in backend or full-stack development with JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js
Solid experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and integrating with external systems
Hands-on experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines
Comfortable working in cloud/PaaS environments

Nice-to-have:

First exposure to SAP BTP, CAP, SAPUI5/Fiori, or S/4HANA APIs
Familiarity with event-driven architectures or messaging (Event Mesh, Kafka, or similar)
Genuine interest in learning ABAP and S/4HANA concepts over time

Languages: Very good command of written and spoken English.

Personal Attributes: Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, proactiveness, adaptability, and collaboration skills in an international, cross-country team. Comfortable being the person who brings modern engineering practice into an SAP-centric environment, and curious rather than reluctant about SAP.
