Project Manager Portugal (m/f/d)

(Stellen-ID: 2517)

Role description:

You don't manage processes – you own results. In this role, you take full responsibility for international development projects, always keeping the product as a whole in focus. You bring solid technical knowledge across hardware, software, and quality – not as a specialist, but as someone who understands how everything connects, can assess what they're being told, and knows exactly when and where to push back. You think in systems: you understand how hardware, embedded software, quality, and production interact – and you immediately spot when one subsystem puts the whole product at risk.

Your responsibilities:

  • Full ownership of international development projects, working closely with development teams at our headquarters in Germany and our development site in China
  • Leading cross-functional teams across hardware and software development, quality assurance, production, and product management
  • System-level view of the overall product: analyzing interactions between development areas, identifying systemic risks, and ensuring all subsystems contribute to a working end product
  • Critically evaluating progress reports, quality assessments, and technical dependencies across all project areas – always forming your own informed, independent judgement
  • Proactive risk management: identifying project risks early, defining concrete measures, and following through until resolved
  • Presenting project status, risks, and decision proposals at top management level – clearly, convincingly, and to the point
  • Communicating effectively at every level: from engineers on the floor to the executive board – always with the right tone and the right level of detail
  • Close collaboration with internal stakeholders from development, quality, production, and marketing, as well as external partners

What we offer:

  • A ground-floor opportunity to shape how project management and quality are done at Testo Portugal – with real influence from day one
  • An international working environment with flat hierarchies, short decision paths, and agile ways of working
  • Real ownership and impact: Your decisions directly affect the products our customers worldwide rely on
  • Competitive remuneration and a comprehensive benefits package
  • A dynamic, forward-thinking organisation where your ideas are heard

Your profile:

  • Degree in a technical field (e.g. mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or similar)
  • Several years of experience as a project manager in industry – specifically in hardware and software development projects, ideally with a background in embedded software; purely organizational project management experience without a technical product focus is not sufficient
  • Solid technical overview across all relevant engineering disciplines – you can assess, challenge, and independently evaluate input from development, quality, and production
  • Systems thinking: you grasp complex technical relationships at product level, identify dependencies between subsystems, and maintain a clear view of the overall system even under pressure
  • Experience with quality management systems and methods (e.g. QKT, FMEA, quality gates)
  • Strong risk awareness and proven experience in structured risk management for complex development projects
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels – from technical discussions with engineers to presentations at board level, always striking the right tone
  • Structured, pragmatic, and self-driven working style with the confidence to push things forward
  • Fluent English is a must (international project environment)
